Staying cool in hot weather
by One Housing, over 1 year agoWe've had record breaking temperatures this summer, and with the hot weather set to continue, here are our tips for staying cool in the heat:
- Stay hydrated! In the hot weather it's essential that you drink plenty of fluids, especially water
- Try to avoid being in the sun between 11am and 3pm, when UV rays are at their peak
- If you have to be outside, make to use a high SPF to protect your skin
- Keep curtains shut to block out the heat
Keep an eye out for the signs of heatstroke, which can be dangerous. There's lots of information on the NHS website about how to spot heatstroke, and what to do if you or someone you know is unwell.
We'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas on how to stay cool in this weather. Do you love the warmer climate, or are you waiting for cooler weather?Thank you for your contribution!

Why is OneHousing Refusing to Refund My Overpaid Service Charge - Flower & Dean Estate
by Kabir Ahmed, almost 2 years agoI have received the finalised service charge account for 3 fiscal years starting from 2019/20 to 2021/22. Altogether, I have overpaid £1,400, but the Head of Income is refusing to refund my money and wants to offset this against the future years service charge. Based on the current annual service charge that I am paying it will take over 5.4 years for the overpaid service charge to be fully utilised. I had suggested compromised whereby my overpaid service charge money can be transferred to my rent account so that it can be offset against the future rent charge but this too was ignored without providing a reason.

Barkantine Heat and Power Switch2 Energy Bills
by PaulMacInnes, over 1 year agoI am interested to see how many folks are using this forum. Scoulding House Mellish Street Energy bills went up 5 fold, Have any other residents challenged this increase? I also wonder if others consider the lack of factual information regarding the interwoven companies involved in communal gas and electric supply is a cause for concern. If nobody cares so be it. I have over the last two months implemented my quest for information to explain this egregious increase using the ask@onehousing.co.uk email route.
