FAQs
What is a procurement process?
It is the name of an overarching process where a organisation has seen a need emerge. The organisation will then look to satisfy that need. E.g. if you are hungry (need), you may go shopping for food (procurement), to satisfy the need, you being hungry.
In this case Riverside needs to find a company that can deliver pest control.
What is a tender?
It is a part of a larger procurement process. Specifically, it refers to the act of seeking bids from contractors, in this case pest control companies, who are interested in being the people that Riverside will call out to your property should you experience a pest problem.
What is a bid?
Riverside makes a list of criteria that need to be fulfilled to make sure that pest problems can be dealt with quickly for you, as residents. A bid is an interested company's way of saying that THEY think they are suitable to become Riverside's next supplier of pest control for its residents.
YOU are scrutinising one aspect of each company's bids to assess whether you think they would be the best one to get rid of pests from your home.
What does 'SLA' mean?
'SLA' stands for 'Service Level Agreement'. It is where the service provider agrees with the company purchasing the service what the quality of service is going to be for the duration of the contract.
If the service provider fails to meet the agreed SLA, this can be grounds to terminate the contract and the search for new bids to replace them begins.
