  • Painting workshops with artist Husna Parvin

    As part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone, funded by Historic England, local people, who live on and around Petticoat Lane Market, have voted for a series of events celebrating the local cultural heritage of the area.

    The programme will comprise of 11 events/activities, running from November 2022 through to end of 2023, with a launch event on 10 November 2023 at Toynbee Hall.

    The first of these will be a 3-month painting course beginning in November at Flower and Dean Community Centre, every Monday 10am-12pm, run by artist and workshop facilitator Husna Parvin.

    This is an adult painting class, with a particular focus on local mothers. There are 12 places, and attendees are expected to come on a weekly basis to develop their skills.

  • Free English and Maths tuition for children

    We’re delighted to work with non-profit organisation Tutors United to provide free weekly lessons in Maths and English to school children in years 4, 5 and 6 (8-11 years old).

    This service can have a huge impact on pupils who have fallen a bit behind and would like to improve their performance at school. Tutors United recruit and train university students to deliver exciting hour-long sessions that complement the national curriculum.

    We still have some spaces left for face to face sessions that take place on Mondays at Flower and Dean Community Centre (Brick Lane - E1 6QT).

  • Financial support offered by local councils

    As household budgets for many people are severely under strain due to the cost-of-living crisis, many councils have made additional funds available to support those in need.

    Please visit your council’s website to learn more.

    If you have financial difficulties, struggle to pay your bills or need help to replace household appliances, we are here to help.

    Through our new Helping Hand Fund, which is paid for by the Riverside Foundation as part of our partnership with the Riverside Group, we can provide small grants and other practical short-term support for households up to £500.   • Contacting our Customer Service Centre

    We’re working hard on improving our services following the launch of our Customer Experience Strategy last year. We’ve been using feedback from our customer surveys to help us change what we do so we can answer your calls more quickly and respond to more queries right first time.

    Our busiest days are Mondays and Tuesdays between 9am and 12pm so unless it’s an emergency you may find it easier to call a bit later in the day.

  • Calling all aspiring entrepreneurs aged 18-24 in London

    Do you dream of being your own boss? If you answered yes, then apply to the Next Generation Bootcamp to learn everything you need to start your own business and be in with the chance of winning cash grants up to £5,000.

    50 budding entrepreneurs will be selected to access six weeks of training, mentoring and the chance to pitch their business and receive a grant between £750 and £5,000.

  • Would you like to be our next Resident Customer Services Committee Member?

    During our Resident Engagement Strategy consultation residents told us they would like to get involved in shaping, scrutinising, and improving our services.

    We now have a unique and exciting opportunity for two of our tenants to join the One Housing Customer Services Committee. Putting your skills, passion and experience into practice, this governance role will allow you to make a valuable contribution to the delivery of our strategic objectives. You’ll receive a renumeration of £3,250 per year.

    As a Resident Committee Member, you’ll make an important contribution to the Committee with wide-ranging responsibilities for scrutinising and reviewing customer-facing policies, performance and service delivery. This will include oversight of the delivery of our 2021-24 Customer Experience Strategy as well as overseeing our performance on customer services. You will work closely with other Independent Committee Members, Board members and the senior leadership team to make sure we achieve our objectives, while managing risk and delivering great services.

  • Cost of Living Payment

    If you’re getting certain benefits or tax credits, you may be able to get a payment to help with the cost of living.

    If you’re eligible, you’ll be paid automatically in the same way you usually get your benefit or tax credits.

    You could get up to 3 different types of payment depending on your circumstances on a particular date or during a particular period:

    • a Cost of Living Payment, if you get a qualifying low income benefit or tax credits
    • a Disability Cost of Living Payment, if you get a qualifying disability benefit
    • a Pensioner Cost of Living Payment, if you’re entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2022 to 2023

    These payments are not taxable and will not affect the benefits or tax credits you get.

    If you cannot see the payment in your bank, building society or credit union account, you can report it via the GOV.UK website.

  • Our £250K Community Fund is now open – bid now!

    Do you run a TRA, community group, or club that supports One Housing or Riverside residents?

    If so, you could benefit from our new £250,000 Community Fund.

    Through the Riverside Foundation, we’ve made £250,000 available in 2022/23 to help fund projects that promote opportunities and wellbeing and tackle poverty in our communities.

    There are three levels of funding:

    under £3,000, which has a relatively simple bidding process

    between £3,000 – £10,000, which requires slightly more input

    grants above £10,000 for which we’ll require some more detailed information to ensure the money will make a really big difference to our residents.

    There’s no closing date and we’ll come back to you as soon as we’ve assessed your application.
